Photoshop 960 Grid Action

Many web designers know the benefit of design on a grid but it can be a tedious task to open up a document and draw out your guides every time. So there are many resources out there to help you with that. However I have found many of them do not give me exactly what I want.

A 960px wide Document with 10px side gutters, 12 columns with 20px Gutters. Exactly like shown on the very popular http://960.gs web site. So I made an action that will create me just that. A new document with those guides already placed.

This may have been done before but that’s ok, I love to share my tips and tricks with everyone. So without further adieu you can download the action here:

How To Use:

Download the .ZIP file and extract it to a folder of your choice.
Take the .atn file and place it in (Your Photoshop Installation Directory) Adobe Photoshop > Presets > Actions
Start up Photoshop and open your Actions Panel (Window > Actions)
Click the Pop-out Menu for the Actions Window and Click 960 Grids near the bottom ( Can be seen in this image )
Press Plan on the 960 Grid 12 Col. Action!

There as simple as that. No need to start a new document it does it all for you. I hope you enjoy this action, many other useful ones to come!
